Act Now to Get a Comic-Con 2019 Badge

Here’s how to secure your spot—or at least get in line for a pass—to the pop-culture convention

Next July may seem a long way off, but now is the time to save your spot for Comic-Con International 2019 (July 18–21) in downtown San Diego. Badges go on sale at 9 a.m. PT on Saturday, Oct. 13—but only for people who attended Comic-Con in 2018.

What if you want to go for the first time? Now is the perfect time to position yourself for an open sale of badges—which will happen at a later date (if, indeed, it happens at all, due to high demand). To participate in such a sale, you first need an ID at Comic-Con’s Member ID registration, so start by doing that.

Keep in mind that the member registration site for 2019 could close down before an open sale, and with little notice. To keep tabs on this, follow the Comic-Con pages on FacebookTwitter, and Toucan—the official blog of Comic-Con and WonderCon Anaheim.

If you went to Comic-Con 2018 and want to go in 2019, check the rules and tips first. For instance, you’ll have to go through a couple steps to get your personal registration code, and you can only buy badges for other folks if they have their own member IDs. A nice perk: kids 12 and under can go for free with a badge-toting adult.

Either way, you can always enjoy downtown San Diego’s festive atmosphere during Comic-Con, even if you end up without a badge. Check out our tips on How to Hack Comic-Con.
