Come to Anza-Borrego Desert State Park in late winter and early spring, and you’ll see a gorgeous carpet of wildflowers covering the desert. But any time of year, just wait until after dark for a different stunning view. This is the first International Dark Sky Community in the Golden State, making it a prime spot for stargazing. During daylight hours, explore the town of Borrego Springs and keep an eye out for the cool statues of other-worldly creatures made by metal sculptor Ricardo Breceda.
Listen to an astronomer discuss the night skies over Anza-Borrego in an episode of the California Now Podcast.
